Pilates Instructor Training

By choosing our Pilates Teacher Training and Certification Program, we believe that your choice will be well rewarded. At a time when the Pilates community is being flooded with options this course has found and established a unique niche. We represent uncompromised quality, integrity and excellent education. This is an individualized comprehensive and extensive study in the Pilates Method.

Our teacher training course is intense, and in-depth, and covers the full range of Pilates equipment. Students receive full training in practical and theory, and have the chance to develop their teaching skills in regular supervised sessions with clients. Many of our students have gone on to teach internationally using their qualifications.


 

Course schedule 2012

Topics covered in the Course include:

  • The complete repertoire of Pilates exercises on the Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Spine Corrector, High Barrel, Magic Circle and Ped-o-Pull
  • The principles of correct alignment, posture and posture assessment
  • Movement analysis and muscle recruitment patterns
  • Applied anatomy, physiology, muscle testing and function
  • Teaching methodology and pedagogy unique to this form of training
  • Working with specialised populations: athletes, dancers, gymnasts, etc.
  • Pre and post natal work utilizing this method
  • Therapeutic applications, rehabilitation and special needs
  • The use of related accessories: foam rollers, physio-balls, rotating discs, etc.
  • Administering a studio: charting, scheduling and staff management

 

In the final exam, students must take a written theory exam, accurately demonstrate and explain exercises from the Pilates repertoire, and teach a one-hour class to a client.  They are also assessed on a written case study and presentation.

The course is divided into 3 levels. Each level consists of 4 Modules, making 12 Modules in total.

Level 1: Modules 1 – 4

Level 2: Modules 5 – 8

Level 3: modules 9 – 12

The total cost of the program is R24 000.

Full Course:  10% discount if full course is paid upfront

Per Level:  R8000 per level, payable two weeks prior to commencement of the course

Per  Module:  R1400 per module, only available up to module 8.

This option is only for certified instructors.  Available for those not registered in the course.

The foundation of the Pilates repertoire, matwork can be utilized in many different environments. It fully encompasses the important principles of Pilates and offers a huge variety of workout options. This comprehensive course teaches students the full range of classical mat exercises, as well as integrating small apparatus to add variety and challenge. It can be used as a ‘springboard’ to the full Pilates teacher training course, and is a perfect option for those with limited time and resources.

The Mat certification course takes place in March and again in June.

The cost is R9000.

Once you are Qualified

After completing our teacher training course, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate and explain the wide range of exercises in the Pilates repertoire
  • Assess your client’s posture and physical strengths and weaknesses
  • Utilise the Pilates repertoire to correct postural deviations and muscle imbalances, and to alleviate many physical conditions.
  • Design exercise programmes for your clients that are effective and specific to their personal goals and needs.
  • Teach varied and challenging classes, using the full range of Pilates equipment.
  • Understand the principles of Pilates and convey their importance to clients
  • Understand the anatomy and biomechanics of the exercises
  • Modify and enhance exercises according to the ability and requirements of each client
  • Direct a studio to the highest professional standard
